Raising Awareness – Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Tehama County Child Abuse Prevention Council invites every community to take action for children suffering from child abuse. The blue ribbon is the international sign for child abuse prevention and is a reminder that all children deserve a safe, nurturing, and happy childhood.

Here are a few ways you can acknowledge this cause:

Create a Blue Ribbon Tree for children in your community. Any community group or individual can make a difference in the life of a child. Make a difference and “Build a Blue Ribbon Tree”.

  • Select a Tree or Construct a tree (out of any materials you choose). If utilizing a live tree, choose one that has high visibility.
Note: Please ask permission if required and be respectful of the tree.
  • Decorate tree with Blue Ribbons (store bought or home-made)
  • Register your tree here.

Join us for one of two “plant a pinwheel garden” events.

  • Friday, April 1, 2011
9:00am – 4:00pm at the Corning Transportation Center
    1081 Solano Street
  • Saturday, April 9, 2011
10:15am – 4:00pm at the Tehama County Courthouse
    633 Washington Street
Show your support for this great cause by planting a blue pinwheel at one of these events! Pinwheels can be customized for $1.00, by adding the name of a child you would like to honor. All proceeds from this event will go into a scholarship fund for a Tehama County student who is seeking a degree in a field related to Child Abuse Prevention.
